Ladies Match Report 28/01/05  There were no Ladies matches reported this week


Mens Match Report 28/01/05   Andover Sports Mens A in Division of the Ian Dewar (Castlegate Investments) sponsored league beat struggling Viking B 7/2 at Andover.  Chris Powell and Tony Coombes won one rubber for the losing visitors as did Carlo Rapacioli/Stuart Cheung.  Both Steve Christmas/Edward Burgess and Tim Hunt/Daniel Soper-Dyer recorded maxima for the winners complimented by one from Shaun McDonald/Emerson Cumberbatch.  This victory lifts the Andover Sports side well clear of the bottom two teams. 

Loddon are now only one points behind leaders Hurst in Division 3 following an 8/1 home win against Whitchurch who languish at the bottom of the table.  Dave Cooley and Stuart Gordon were the winners of the solitary rubber for Whitchurch with Richard Burt/Phil Hood and Steve Woodward/Mark Gentry both getting maxima for Loddon.  Martin Hawkins/Mitchell Hockley scored the other two for the home side.


Mixed Match Report 28/01/05    Daniel Soper-Dyer and Pauline Prior were the only winners for Andover Sports A when they went down 8/1 to Mixed Division 1 leaders Beechdown A at Winchester Road.  Brother and sister Neil Marie/Andrea Hill won their three rubbers for the winners as did Tim Corke/Madge Cummings.  Peter Seward and Kate Marlow won the remaining two.  In the same division Waynflete had their second victory of the season in beating BH Pegasus A 5/4 at Winchester.  Wayne Barter/Elizabeth Burville won their three rubbers for Waynflete with Colin Burville/Kirstie Wykes getting the other two.  Martin Hill/Amanda Marsden and David Burrell/Anu Davies won a rubber each for the visiting losers while David Gough/Fiona Tebbutt got two.

BH Pegasus B, in Division 2, were more successful beating Viking B 7/2 at the Sports Centre.  In this encounter Abdul Khan/Lesley Acheson won a maximum for the home team supported by two rubbers each from Andy Lang/Sue Lorrain and Tony Ashworth/Ling Tan   Firefly had their first win of the season when they beat Aldermaston A 6/3 at the Hurst.  Phil Pike and Kim Rhodes set up the win by taking all three of their rubbers supported by two from Steve Webb/Traicy Tait and one from Colin Pink/Kim Scott.  David Lowe and Sandra Page recorded two rubbers for the losers complimented by one from Lawrence Sutton/Julie Ward.  These two teams still struggle at the bottom of the table with Firefly only two points behind Aldermaston A with a match in hand.  

In Division 4 Aldermaston B crept into second spot with a 5/4 home win over Phoenix B.  Paul Roper/Hannah Ward won their three rubbers for the home team supported by one rubber each from Ben Copes/Joan Vinall and Tony Lockyear/Rhian Jenkins.  Bob Cosgrove/Alison Rendall and Andy Jones/Carolyn Neale both won two rubbers for Phoenix B.  Although Aldermaston B are currently occupying second place in the table the team below them, Basing Cavaliers, are only two points adrift with two matches in hand.


Knock-Out Cup 28/01/05  The second round is now almost complete.  St Marys beat Basing Cavaliers 157/144,  BH Pegasus beat Whitchurch 184/140 and Waverley beat Waynflete 161/160.  The draw for the semi-finals sees St Marys at home to BH Pegasus while Waverley will entertain the winners of Beechdown versus Viking.  These semi-finals should be played before 12th March.
