Mens Match Report - 27/01/06  In Mens Division 1, Viking A remain unbeaten after a close 5/4 home win over challengers Beechdown A despite a maximum from the visitors first pair Peter Seward and Neil Marie.  Daniel Sheppard/Ben Cummings secured the losers other rubber.  James Bevis/Richard Whatley and Tim Cooper/Chris Powell both won two rubbers for Viking A with Neil Hodges/Graeme Berry getting the vital fifth.  This victory leaves Viking A just two points behind Beechdown A at the moment but with a match in hand.

In a match played last October at Andover and the card lost deep in someone’s bag and just reported now, Andover beat BH Pegasus C 6/3 at Andover.  Alan Dixon/Paul Fletcher won their three rubbers for the home side supported by two rubbers from Ivor Brojek/Martin Roberts and one from Geoff Lewis/Mark Jenkins.  This result leaves Andover in second place in the Division 3 table behind Phoenix A but with a backlog of matches still to report.

Mixed Match Report - 27/01/06   Beechdown B suffered two 9/0 defeats in Mixed Division 1.  Firstly they went down by this score to BH Pegasus A at the Sports Centre and later at home to their own A side by the same score.  David Burrell/Kim Street, Jonathan Phillips/Lesley Acheson and Martin Hill/Amanda Marsden were the successful BH Pegasus A team in the first match and Neil Marie/Andrea Hill, Mick Cummings/Karen Southwell and Peter Seward/Madge Cummings comprised the Beechdown A team inflicting the second defeat.  The victory for Beechdown A means that they now have 43 points from 6 matches while Viking A, their nearest challengers, have 31 from 5 matches played.  Like Mens  Division 1, a close finish should ensue in this Division.

Waverley A had their first victory of the season in Division 3 when they beat current leaders BH Pegasus C 6/3 at home.  Colin Huntley and Debbie Symes secured a maximum for Waverley A complimented by two rubbers from Richard James/Sandra Jennings and one from Adam Bridgen/Sally Holmes.  Dale Turpin and Jean Deverill won two of the loser’s rubbers with Steve Glover/Jenny Skilton getting the other.   Despite this setback BH Pegasus C still look on course to take top spot in the table by the end of the season.

Mark Fuller and Alison Rendall, in her first appearance for the club this season, won the two rubbers for Phoenix B when they lost 7/2 to LoddonSherpas C in Division 5.  Phil Neal/Eve Bielby recorded a maximum for the winners with Steve Woodward/Liz Firth and Paul Bonner/Caroline Thompson getting two each to complete the scoring.
