Ladies Match Report - 27/01/06
BH Pegasus ladies, Amanda Marsden, Jenny Skilton, Kim Street and Doreen Quilter, beat Phoenix 6/0 in the Ladies 4 Division of the Ian Dewar (Castlegate Investments) sponsored league at Sherfield School in the only match reported in the Ladies Section this week.Mens Match Report - 27/01/06
In Mens Division 1, Viking A remain unbeaten after a
close 5/4 home win over challengers Beechdown A despite a maximum from the
visitors first pair Peter Seward and Neil Marie.
Daniel Sheppard/Ben Cummings secured the losers other rubber.
James Bevis/Richard Whatley and Tim Cooper/Chris Powell both won two
rubbers for Viking A with Neil Hodges/Graeme Berry getting the vital fifth.
This victory leaves Viking A just two points behind Beechdown A at the
moment but with a match in hand.
Mark Gentry/Phil Hood won a maximum for a two pair LoddonSherpas A when
they beat Beechdown B 5/4 at Winchester Road in Division 2.
The other pair, Matthew Frost and Seth Ball secured two rubbers while
Paul Deed and Sam Jefferies won the solitary home rubber.
In a match played last October at Andover and the card lost deep in
someone’s bag and just reported now, Andover beat BH Pegasus C 6/3 at
Andover. Alan Dixon/Paul Fletcher
won their three rubbers for the home side supported by two rubbers from Ivor
Brojek/Martin Roberts and one from Geoff Lewis/Mark Jenkins.
This result leaves Andover in second place in the Division 3 table
behind Phoenix A but with a backlog of matches still to report.
Mixed Match Report - 27/01/06
Beechdown B
suffered two 9/0 defeats in Mixed Division 1.
Firstly they went down by this score to BH Pegasus A at the Sports
Centre and later at home to their own A side by the same score.
David Burrell/Kim Street, Jonathan Phillips/Lesley Acheson and Martin
Hill/Amanda Marsden were the successful BH Pegasus A team in the first match
and Neil Marie/Andrea Hill, Mick Cummings/Karen Southwell and Peter
Seward/Madge Cummings comprised the Beechdown A team inflicting the second
defeat. The victory for Beechdown
A means that they now have 43 points from 6 matches while Viking A, their
nearest challengers, have 31 from 5 matches played.
Like Mens Division 1, a
close finish should ensue in this Division.
Waverley A had their first victory of the season in Division 3 when they beat
current leaders BH Pegasus C 6/3 at home.
Colin Huntley and Debbie Symes secured a maximum for Waverley A
complimented by two rubbers from Richard James/Sandra Jennings and one from
Adam Bridgen/Sally Holmes. Dale
Turpin and Jean Deverill won two of the loser’s rubbers with Steve
Glover/Jenny Skilton getting the other.
Despite this setback BH Pegasus C still look on course to take top spot
in the table by the end of the season.
Mark Fuller and Alison Rendall, in her first appearance for the club
this season, won the two rubbers for Phoenix B when they lost 7/2 to
LoddonSherpas C in Division 5. Phil Neal/Eve Bielby recorded a maximum for the winners with
Steve Woodward/Liz Firth and Paul Bonner/Caroline Thompson getting two each to
complete the scoring.
