Ladies Match Report 25/11/04 The only Ladies match reported, saw a 6/3 home win for a two pair Viking team over visiting Waynflete in the Ladies 6 Division. Hayley Kopp/Jane Halls and Karen Bayman/Ruth Cairns were the winning combinations.

25/11/04 The
two top teams in Mens Division 4 of the Ian Dewar (Castlegate
Investments) sponsored league clashed last week with Andover emerging
easy winners by 8/1 over
BH Pegasus C. Ray Chow and Steve Tribe were the solitary successful home
pair. Ivor Brojek/Colin McIntyre and Alan Dixon/Paul Fletcher won maxima
for Andover complimented by two rubbers from Geoff Lewis/Mark Jenkins.
This victory leaves Andover just four points behind BH Pegasus C
with a match in hand.
Firefly and Aldermaston share the lead in Division 2 at the moment with
23 points after the former won 6/3 at home. Firefly have the advantage
having played one match less than Aldermaston.
The three home pairs, Steve Webb/John Weston, Colin Pink/Mick
Turrell and Phil Pike/Gary Leach won two rubbers with Chris Apsey/Graham
Page getting two for Aldermaston supported by one from David
Lowe/Stephen Gaunt.
Mixed
Match Report 25/11/04
Beechdown Mixed B in Division 2, had
a 6/3 away victory over Viking B at John Hunt School.
Daniel Harvey/Cathryn Perkins recorded a maximum for Beechdown B
supported by two rubbers from Daniel Sheppard/Kate Marlow and one from
Martin Webb/Sarah Flay. Chris
Powell/Jane Halls got two rubbers for the losers with Tony Coombes/Ruth
Cairns obtaining the third.
Like their B side the Winchester Road based C team also notched
up a win this week. In
Division 3, they beat Whitchurch 7/2 with the visitor’s two rubbers
coming from Stuart Gordon/Moya Abbott.
Mick Cummings/Lynn Perrini won three rubbers for Beechdown C with
Nigel Appleton/Karen Southwell and Mark Bayliss/Jan McDonald getting two
each to complete the victory. After
an 8/1 home defeat of BH Pegasus C, in the same division, St Marys now
have a commanding lead over the nearest rival, Beechdown C, of 9 points.
The sole winners for BH Pegasus C were Dale Turpin and Jean
Deverill. Keith Vincent/Pam
Norman and Ilya Goldberg/ Sanola Wilkinson both secured maxima for St
Marys with Peter McFarlane-Smith/Debbie Freeman getting the other two
rubbers.
Led by three rubbers from Stephen Gaunt/Judith Lillis Basing Cavaliers
beat Aldermaston B 5/4 at Old Basing in Division 4.
Andrew Dance/Sheila Weston won the other two.
Keith Fleming/Rhian Jenkins won two rubbers for the losers with
Paul Roper/Emily Eadingham and Joan Vinall/Rod Jenkins chipping in with
one each.
Knock-Out Cup 25/11/04 In the first round of the Knock-Out Cup Waynflete beat Aldermaston 169/147 in an exciting match at Winchester. BH Pegasus received a walk-over from Loddon who were only going to be able to field one lady player for their encounter.
Coaching Course 25/11/04
The Coaching Course which was held at the Westgate Centre on Sunday 21st November proved very successful. We have had complimentary comments from the attendees and requests in quite a few cases for a follow-up course. Thanks are due to the County Development Officer, Denis Blazye and his five assistants for running the course.
