Mens Match Report 18/03/05  Although they lost 5/4 to Firefly at the Hurst Andover Sports B in Mens Division 2 still lead the table by 3 points from second placed Aldermaston.  Firefly themselves are in third spot another 8 points adrift.  Phil Pike/Scott Armstead won one rubber for Firefly supported by two each from Colin Pink/Mike Turrell and Steve Webb/John Weston.  Ian Swatton/Chris Clarke recorded two rubbers for the losers as did Graham Woodrow/Peter Cowmeadow.

Basing Cavaliers, who had only two pairs, still languish at the bottom of Division 4 following a 6/3 defeat by Sherpas at Old Basing.  Martin Cresswell/Andrew Dance won all their three rubbers for the home side with each of the three visiting pairs, Mark Iredale/Peter Matthews, Steve Pote/Seth Ball and Menkang Peng/Terry Firth winning one.

Mixed Match Report 18/03/05   BH Pegasus A inflicted a 9/0 defeat on Andover Sports A in Mixed Division 1 with Martin Hill/Amanda Marsden, David Gough/Fiona Tebbutt and Abdul Khan/Anu Davies the three winning combinations.  This victory lifts BH Pegasus A well clear of the relegation zone.

Three rubbers from Graeme Berry/Ingrid Hart helped Viking C to a 5/4 home win over BH Pegasus C in Division3.  Ian Shoard/Ruth Cairns and Horace Mitchell/Susie Hubbard contributed one each to complete the tally.  Martin Davey/Jean Deverill won two rubbers for the losers supplemented by one each from Steve Glover/Doreen Quilter and Dale Turpin/Kim Newman.  BH Pegasus C, who have completed their programme, are now in second place in the table but could still be overhauled by Beechdown C who have still two matches to play.

Despite a maximum three rubbers from the home sides Andy Jones/Alison Rendall Phoenix B lost 6/3 to Beechdown D in Division 4.  Keith Dawson/Sue Nolan, Mark Fuller/Jan Hodges and Mark Cleave/Nicola Blake, the three visiting pairs, won two rubbers each in this encounter.

Knock-Out Cup 18/03/05  In the first semi-final of the Knock-Out Cup, Waverley (+10) defeated Beechdown (-4, owe a hand) 160/135.  Waverley’s ladies, Caroline Rodbourne, Debbie Symes and Avril Mason won the three level doubles with good scores to give their team a start.  Beechdown won two of the Mens doubles but were 38 points down with only the three Mixed doubles to play.  The task proved too much for although they won all three of these doubles the Waverley pairs secured sufficient points in each to  ensure victory.  Waverley will now play either BH Pegasus (-2, owe a hand) or St Marys ((+2) in the final.
