Ladies Match Report - 13/12/05 A 6/3 home scoreline against a two pair BH Pegasus gave LoddonSherpas ladies in the Ladies 6 Division of the Ian Dewar (Castlegate Investments) sponsored league, their first victory of the season. Sisters, Cheryl and Stephanie Matthews won two rubbers and Hayley Kopp/Julie Vickers one to set up the win. Kim Street/Lesley Acheson recorded two rubbers for BH Pegasus with Sue Lorraine/Amanda Marsden getting one. Later LoddonSherpas themselves were only able to field two pairs when they faced Beechdown at John Hunt School to go down 6/3. In this match the Matthews ladies won the home side’s three rubbers with each of the visitor’s pairs, Karen Southwell/Sandra Smith, Andrea Hill/Ruth Seward and Madge Cummings/Cathryn Perkins winning one. BH Pegasus suffered another loss when they entertained Andover Sports at the Sports Centre. This time the score was 5/4 in favour of the visitors for whom Liz Roberts/Sue Hartfield and Pauline Prior/Anita Haskin each won two rubbers complimented by one from Ellen Dennett/Val Wheeler. Kim Street and Lesley Acheson won a maximum for the home team and Sue Lorraine/Amanda Marsden got the fourth.
Mens Match Report

Burrell/Martin Davey were the only winners when a two pair BH Pegasus Mens a
lost 8/1 to Beechdown A at Winchester Road in Division 1.
Peter Seward/Neil Marie and father and son pairing of Mick/Ban Cummings
each won two rubbers for the home team supported by one from Daniel
Sheppard/Mark Bayliss.
In Division 2, despite two rubbers from Ian Young/Seth Ball and one from Phil
Hood/Richard Burt, a two pair LoddonSherpas a lost 6/3 to BH Pegasus B at
Cranbourne School. Dale
Turpin/Steve Glover recorded two rubbers for the visitors and Alex groom/Nick
Harvey the other. Viking B stay
well out in front in the table following a 8/1 defeat of Hurst at the Hurst.
In a tight three set rubber Adam Jesney and Steve Hartwell secured the
sole home point. Graeme
Berry/Scott Wilkins and Simon Williamson/Ian Shoard won maxima for Viking B
supported by two rubbers from Stuart Cheng/David Craig.
Scott Page/Dani Fuller won the two rubbers for Alresford when they lost
7/2 to Beechdown B at Winchester Road. Paul
Deed/Tim Williams won a maximum for the home side with Steve Nolan/Tim
Jefferies and Keith Dawson/Chris Meeking getting two each.
Tim Pink/Mark Cleave won the only rubber for Phoenix B when they went
down 8/1 to visiting Whitchurch in Division 3.
Stuart Gordon/Dave Cooley won their rubbers for Whitchurch as did Phil
Cooke/Sean Mallard with Peter Askew/Dave Major getting the other two.
This was Whitchurch’s first win in four outings and has given them
some badly needed points.
Mixed Match Report

A, Matthew Frost/Hayley Kopp, Ian Young/Stephanie Matthews and Seth
Ball/Cheryl Matthews opened their season in Mixed Division 2 with a 9/0 home
win against Aldermaston A. They
then followed this with a 5/4 home defeat at the hands of St Marys for whom
Andy King/Amy Sainsbury and Tony Glinos/Margaret Mason won two rubbers each
complimented by one from Philip Desbois/Lyn Glinos.
Seth Ball/Cheryl Matthews and Ian Young/Stephanie Matthews took two
rubbers each for the home side.
An 8/1 defeat of Beechdown C by BH Pegasus C in Division 3 enables the latter
team to maintain their top position in the table by quite a margin.
Dale Turpin/Jean Deverill and Steve Glover/Jenny Skilton each scored a
maximum for BH Pegasus C with Stuart Braine/Doreen Quilter contributing the
other two. Paul Deed and Sue Nolan recorded the solitary Beechdown C
point.
Basing Cavaliers were only able to field two pairs to visit Phoenix A in
Division 4. The final score was
7/2 in favour of the home side with Matthew Savastang/Carolyn Neale and Tim
Little/Averil Mason winning two rubbers each.
Steve Gaunt/Sam Taylor and Martin Cresswell/Sheila Weston won one each
for the losers.
Knock-Out Cup 13/12/05 In the first round of the Knock-Out Cup Beechdown beat LoddonSherpas 144/138 and will now be at home to Andover Sports in the 2nd round which is to be played before 12th February 2006. LoddonSherpas were seven points ahead, thanks to good wins by their ladies pairs and good performances from the men, when going into the Mixed. Beechdown won all three of these to give them a 6 point winning margin. Andover Sports accounted for Phoenix with a 189/135 scoreline, wiining all nine of the one game rubbers
