Ladies Match Report - 12/01/06 Carolyn Neale and Nicola Blake paired up to win the solitary rubber for Phoenix when they lost 5/1 to visiting Beechdown  in the Ladies 4 division.  Sandra Smith and Leanne Francis took part in two winning pairings for Beechdown while Sue Nolan and Karen Southwell shared in three


Mens Match Report - 12/01/06  Ian Swatton/Chris Clarke, Damien Roberts/Paul Hartfield and Emerson Cumberbatch/Shaun McDonald were the three successful home pairings when Andover Sports A defeated Aldermaston 9/0 in Mens Division 1. 

In Division 2, led by maxima from Kevin Harris/Stuart Braine and Dale Turpin/Steve Glover BH Pegasus B kept up their chase of leaders Viking B with a 7/2 home defeat of Firefly.  Nick Harvey and Alex Groom supplied the seventh rubber for them. Steve Webb/John Weston and Phil Pike/Scott Armstead won one rubber each for the losers.  Later, Firefly, in a match postponed from early in the season, beat Hurst 7/2 at the Hurst.  Adam Jesney and Stephen Hartwell won the home side’s two rubbers with Colin Pink/Mick Turrell getting a maximum for Firefly complimented by two rubbers each from Steve Webb/John Weston and Phil Pike/Scott Armstead.  This victory leaves Firefly in third place in the table, just two points behind second placed BH Pegasus B.  In the same division the LoddonSherpas A team failed to turn up to play Alresford who are now claiming the 9 points. 

Tim Little/Matthew Savastang, Matthew Hawkins/Bob Cosgrove and Paul Verling/Paul Nightingale were the successful Phoenix A side which beat their B team 9/0 in Division 3.


Mixed Match Report - 12/01/06  Despite maintaining their unbeaten run in Mixed Division 1 of the Ian Dewar (Castlegate Investments) sponsored league with a 5/4 home defeat of Beechdown A,  Viking A are still only in second place with 31 points compared to Beechdown A’s 34.  In this recent match Beechdown A were unfortunately forced to concede two rubbers when Mick Cummings sustained an injury early in his second rubber.  James Bevis and Karen Bayman won one rubber for the home side supported by two from Tony Coombes/Ingrid Hart.  The loser’s rubbers were scored by Neil Marie/Andrea Hill,3 and Peter Seward/Madge Cummings, 1.  In the same division BH Pegasus A won 6/3 when visiting Andover Sports A at Andover.  Shaun McDonald/Liz Roberts recorded two rubbers for the home team with Damien Roberts/Pauline Prior getting the third.  Each of the visiting three pairs, David Burrell/Kim Street, Jonathan Phillips/Lesley Acheson and Martin Hill/Amanda Marsden won two rubbers.  

With only two pairs Division 3 leaders BH Pegasus C were still able to beat LoddonSherpas B 5/4 at John Hunt School.  Steve Glover/Jenny Skilton won a maximum for them and the other pair Prasanth Kumaran/Doreen Quilter chipped in with two rubbers to complete the narrow victory which leaves their team still unbeaten.  Phil Hood and Lee Timperley won the solitary home rubber. 

Although they lost 5/4 to Aldermaston B at Aldermaston Whitchurch, with the aid of the 4 points were able to climb to the top of the Division 4 table, if only for a brief period.  Glynn Libberton/Rhian Jenkins led the way for the winners by winning all their three rubbers supported by one rubber each from Graham Page/Philippa Dines and Paul Roper/Hannah Ward.  Dave Cooley/Ellen Dennett and Stuart Gordon/Diane Sabin recorded two rubbers each for Whitchurch.

Chris Clarke/Val Wheeler, Geraint Griffiths/Anita Haskin and Ian Swatton/Liz Jones were the three pairs for leaders Andover Sports B in a 9/0 home victory over Phoenix B in Division 5. Steve Woodward/Liz Firth recorded a maximum for LoddonSherpas C in a 6/3 win against Beechdown D at Winchester Road.  Paul Bonner/Eve Bielby supplied another two rubbers and Andrew Long/Caroline Thompson the sixth.  The three home pairs, Tim Jefferies/Sara Grant, Ian Simpson/Leanne Francis and Mark Bowles/Sue Nolan won one rubber each.


Knock-Out Cup 12/01/06   Waverley are the first team to reach the semi-finals of the Knock-Out Cup having beaten Basing Cavaliers 175/111 in the second round.  The only successes for the Cavaliers came in the A & B Mens and A & A Mixed, featuring Steve Gaunt /Martin Cresswell and Steve Gaunt/Linda Russell otherwise Waverley won the remaining 7 rubber
