Knock- Out Cup-12/10/05   The handicaps for the Knock-Out Cup are as follows:  Viking and Andover Sports (-4, Owe a hand),  Beechdown and BH Pegasus (-1. Owe a hand),  LoddonSherpas (-1),  St Marys (Scr),  Aldermaston (+2),   Phoenix and Waverley (+8),  Basing Cavaliers and Whitchurch (+10).  

In the three 1st round matches which should be played before 15th December, St Marys are at home to BH Pegasus, Beechdown entertain LoddonSherpas and Andover Sports will play Phoenix. Viking, Whitchurch, Aldermaston, Waverley and  Basing Cavaliers received byes into the second round


Coaching Course-12/10/05      There are still places available for the Personal Performance Coaching Course to be held on 13th November at the Westgate Centre.  Application forms may be obtained from your club secretary or from the League Secretary on 01256 781249 


Mixed Match Report - 12/10/05  LoddonSherpas B visited Waverley A and came away 5/2 winners in Mixed Division 3.  Matthew Frost and Jane Vickers set up the win by taking all three of their rubbers with Phil Neal/Lynn White supplying the other two.  Adam Bridgen/Sandra Jennings and Philip Quinn/Sally Holmes won one rubber each for the home side.  

Having been out of the League last season Andover Sports B has re-entered and look as though they will be serious contenders for promotion from the bottom division.  They started their season with a 9/0 away victory over Phoenix B at Sherfield School.  Chris Clarke/Val Wheeler, Ian Swatton/Liz Jones and Andrew Kinge/Anita Maskie was their team.


Ladies Match Report - 12/10/05  The only match reported in the Ladies section saw BH Pegasus beat visiting Beechdown 6/0 in the Ladies 4 Division.  The winning four were Jean Deverill, Doreen Quilter, Sue Lorrain and Amanda Marsden.


Mens Match Report - 12/10/05  There was plenty of activity in Mens section of the Ian Dewar  (Castlegate Investments) sponsored league last week with three matches  to report. The clash between Viking A and rivals Beechdown A in Division 1 saw the former victorious with a 6/3 scoreline. Peter Seward and Neil Marie won the three rubbers for the losing home side while James Bevis/Scott Wilkins, Tim Cooper/Mike Fidge and Tony Coombes/Chris Powell won two each for Viking A.  This win places Viking A at the top of the table at this early stage. On the same day BH Pegasus A beat visiting Andover Sports A by a similar margin at the Sports Centre.  In this match Jonathan Phillips/Abdul Khan won a maximum for the home team supported by two rubbers from Tony Ashworth/Martin Hill and one from David Burrell/Martin Davey.  Each of the visiting pairs, Shaun McDonald/Emerson Cumberbatch, Chris Clarke/Ian Swatton and Damien Roberts/Tim Hunt recorded one rubber.  

In a time constrained match at Aldermaston the home side lost 3/4 to Andover Sports B.  Chris Clarke/Mark Tilson won two rubbers for the winners with Peter Cowmeadow/Graham Woodrow and Paul Williams/Andy Kinge getting one each.  Lawrence Sutton/Stephen Gaunt won two rubbers for the home side complimented by one from David Lowe/Rod Jenkins. Each of the Andover Sports B pairs, Geriant Griffiths/Nick Gladwin, Paul Williams/Mark Tilson and Graham Woodrow/Peter Cowmeadow won one rubber when they played their A side.  For the victorious A team Ian Swatton/Chris Clarke and Shaun McDonald/Emerson Cumberbatch won two rubbers each in this 6/3 win.  

Tony Coombes/Chris Powell, Scott Wilkins/Graeme Berry and Stuart Cheung/Steve Ineson were the three victorious Viking B pairings which beat Alresford 9/0 in Division 2.  In another time constrained match Viking B continued their unbeaten run with a 7/1 home win against BH Pegasus B.  Graeme Berry and Scott Wilkins won a maximum to set up the victory supported by two rubbers each from Ian Shoard/Simon Williamson and Stuart Cheng/Jon Thomson with Steve Glover/Dale Turpin getting the losers consolation point.  Mitchell Hockley had to retire due to an injury in the LoddonSherpas A match versus Hurst at the Hurst School.  Hurst, comprising, Adam Jesney/Stephen Hartwell, Jeremy Browne/Alex Wigmore and David Ord/John Jesney  finished with an 9/0 victory.  Playing on the same night at the same venue a strong Firefly team beat Alresford by the same score.  Colin Pink/Mike Turrell, Phil Pike/Scott Armstead and Steve Webb/John Weston were their three winning pairs.  

Match Secretary Dave Cooley partnered by Stuart Gordon won the three rubbers for Whitchurch in their Division 3 home defeat at the hands of BH Pegasus C for whom each of their three pairs, James Skilton/Jon Brooks, Ray Chow/Steve Tribe and Kevin Harris/Andrew Bosworth won two rubbers.
