Ladies Match Report 10/12/04 A Waverley Ladies team comprising Caroline Rodbourne, Debbie Symes, Doreen Quilter and Avril Mason beat Beechdown 6/0 in the Ladies 4 Division of the Ian Dewar (Castlegate Investments) sponsored league.  This was Waverley’s first win having previously lost one match and drawn another.  In Ladies 6 Division, Andover Sports accounted for a two pair Waynflete side 7/2 at Winchester.  Pauline Prior/Sandra McDonald and Liz Roberts/Sarah Hatfield both won two rubbers for the winners while Caroline Gray/Sarah Impey and Kirstie Wykes/Claire Beckett recorded one each for the losing home side.


Mens Match Report 10/12/04  In Mens Division 2, the card for a match between Andover Sports C and their B team which was played in September, has just surfaced to show a 9/0 victory for the latter. The victorious side’s players were Graham Woodrow/Peter Cowmeadow, Chris Clarke/Andy Kinge and Nick Gladwin/Geriant Griffiths.  More recently the Andover Sports B team entertained Firefly at Andover, inflicting the visiting side’s first defeat after three victories.  This was an 8/1 win with Chris Clarke/Ian Swatton and Andy Kinge/Paul Williams both securing maxima supported by two rubbers from Peter Cowmeadow/Graham Woodrow.  Steve Webb and John Weston won the consolation rubber for Firefly. 

Hurst remain unbeaten in Division 3 following a 5/4 away win at Alresford.  Adam Jesney/Steve Hartwell and David Ord/Dave Keep were the two Hurst pairs winning two rubbers with Jeremy Browne/Dan Hartwell chipping in with the vital fifth.  Bob Thirkell and Scott Page did their best for Alresford by winning their three rubbers with Dani Fuller/Marc Page getting the other. 

A two pair Basing Cavaliers team in Division 4 managed to win four rubbers in their home encounter against Phoenix B.  Richard Dearman/Andrew Dance won a maximum supported by one rubber from Martin Cresswell/Mike Taylor.  Paul Warden/Tim Pink and Paul Verling/Paul Nightingale secured a rubber each to give Phoenix B their first win in three matches.


Mixed Match Report 10/12/04  Andover Sports A beat Sherpas a 9/0 at Andover in Mixed Division 1.  Daniel Soper-Dyer/Pauline Prior, Shaun McDonald/Liz Robert and Emerson Cumberbatch/Sandra McDonald made up the victorious home team.   

In Division 3, Viking C got back to winning ways with an 8/1 home win against Whitchurch for whom Sean Mallard and Moya Abbott scored the only rubber.  Ian Shoard/Ruth Cairns and Horace Mitchell/Barbara Leadbeater won maxima for the winning home side complimented by two rubbers from Scott Wilkins/Sarah King. 

Division 4's Waverley B had their second 9/0 victory, this time against a two pair visiting Phoenix B.  Darren Nicholls/Heather Mountford, Ray Rich/Avril Mason and Adam Bridgen/Margaret Quinn comprised the winning side.


County 1st Team 10/12/04   Next weekend the County 1st team travel to Milton Keynes to take part in the second series of matches in the Inter-County National Division 1 championships.  Their opponents on the Saturday are Surrey and then Gloucestershire while on the Sunday they play Yorkshire.  Having finished in 8th place in the table after the first weekend it is hoped they can get sufficient points from the Saturday matches before facing the champions in the final match on the Sunday


Knock-Out Cup 10/12/04 The club handicapping for the Knock-Out Cup has been completed and is as follows:
Andover Sports, Beechdown and Viking all  (-4, owe a hand)
BH Pegasus (-2, owe a hand)
Waynflete  (Scr, owe a hand)
Aldermaston, St Marys (+2)
Whitchurch, Loddon (+8)
Basing Cavaliers, Waverley (+10)

The draw for the second round of the knock-Out Cup has Basing Cavaliers (+10) at home to St Marys (+2),  BH Pegasus (-2. owe a hand) entertain Whitchurch (+8),  Waverley (+10) have Waynflete (Scr, owe a hand) while Beechdown (-4, owe a hand) are at home to Viking (-4, owe a hand).  These matches should be completed before 30th January 2005.  The secretaries of the eight clubs involved will receive the necessary paperwork within a few days.
