Ladies Match Report 05/11/04 A tight 5/4 home victory for Viking ladies over Andover Sports in the Ladies 6 Division in the Ian Dewar (Castlegate Investments) sponsored league saw the two teams separated by only 4 points at the end of the evening. Karen Bayman/Ruth Cairns won two rubbers as did Jane Halls/Diane Cooper with Hayley Kopp/Barbara Leadbetter getting the fifth for the winners. Sandra McDonald/Pauline Prior scored a maximum for the visitors while Liz Roberts/sue Hatfield supplied the other. Andover and Waverley fought out a 3/3 draw in the Ladies 4 Division with secretary Ann Viney and Maureen Hudson playing in two successful rubbers each while Karen Causley and Kay Carrington took part in one each. Caroline Rodbourne and Sandra Jennings shared in two winning rubbers for Waverley and Heather Mountford and Avril Mason shared in one each.
Mens Match Report 05/11/04 Beechdown A went to the top of the Mens Division 1 table after an 8/1 defeat of Viking B at Winchester Road. Peter Seward/Neil Marie and Daniel Harvey/Tim Corke both scored maxima for the home side with Daniel Sheppard/Martin Webb supplying two rubbers. Ian Shoard and Carlo Rapacioli won the solitary rubber for the losing visitors. Paul Verling and Charlie Butfoy won the only home rubber when Phoenix B lost 8/1 to BH Pegasus C at Sherfield School. Ray Chow/Steve Tribe and Rob Badcock/Jon Brooks recorded maxima for BH Pegasus C with Andrew Minting/Jon Franklin getting the other two

Viking A beat Andover Sports A 8/1 in Mixed Division 1 with Richard
Whatley/Jane Halls and Jonathan Phillips/Karen Bayman winning three
rubbers each and James Bevis/Ruth Seward supplying the other two.
Shaun McDonald/Liz Roberts won the consolation rubber for the
losers. In the same
division Waynflete entertained Sherpas A at Winchester and won with a
7/2 scoreline. Colin Burville/Kirstie Wykes won all their three rubbers
for the home side as did Wayne Barter/Elizabeth Burville. Philip Wilson and Sarah Impey chipped in with the seventh.
Chris Young/Stephanie Matthews and Ian Young/Hayley Kopp won a
rubber each for the visitors. A similar scoreline,7/2 against BH Pegasus A, enabled
Beechdown A to go to the top of the table.
Brother and sister Neil Marie/Andrea Hill won their three rubbers
for the Beechdown side aided by two each from Daniel Harvey/Katie Marlow
and Peter Seward/Madge Cummings. The
loser’s two points were scored by David Burrell/Anu Davies.
In Division 2, Aldermaston A beat a two pair Viking B side 5/4 at
Aldermaston. Keith Fleming
and Sue Richardson won two rubbers for the home side while each of the
visiting pairs, Chris Powell/Jane Halls and Tony Coombes/Ruth Seward did
the same.
St Marys, represented by Andrew King/Janine Fisher, Keith
Vincent/Andrea Farmer and Tony Glinos/Margaret Mason beat visiting
Loddon 9/0 in Division 3. BH
Pegasus C suffered a 7/2 defeat at the hands of visitors Viking C at the
Sports Centre. The two home rubbers came from Steve Glover/Norma Scott.
Scott Wilkins/Barbara Leadbetter won their three for the winners
with Ian Shoard/Ruth Cairns and Carlo Rapacioli/ Diane Cooper supplying
two each.
Phoenix B had a good 8/1 away win over Beechdown D in Division 4.
Steve Sexton/Carolyn Neale and Paul Verling/Jan Hodges both
scored maxima for Phoenix B with Charlie Butfoy/Alison Rendell getting
the other two. Mark Bowles
and Tinie Wilkinson took the only home rubber.
Paul roper/Sue Richardson won their three rubbers for Aldermaston
B in a 6/3 defeat by Waverley A at John Hunt School.
Each of the home pairs, Darren Nicholls/Sally Holmes, Colin
Huntley/Sandra Jennings and Andrew/Heather Mountford won two rubbers.
County 1st Team 05/11/04 The County 1st team, with a slightly weaker team than usual, finished in eighth place in the table after the first round of match in the National League Division 1, played at Wolverhampton University, last weekend. They drew 5/5 with Cheshire, lost 6/4 to Lancashire and finally went down 8/2 to Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire are currently in first place on 22 points with Warwickshire second on 21. The next round of fixtures is on 18/19th December at Milton Keynes when the opponents are Surrey, Gloucestershire and Yorkshire.
Coaching Courses 05/11/04 The League had planned to run two Personal Performance Coaching Courses this season. The first on Sunday 24th October at Fort Hill School has had to be cancelled due to lack of support. The second on Sunday 21st November at Westgate Centre is now fully booked. The course will be staffed by County Coaches and run from 10.00am until 3.00pm. The cost is £15 (full time students £7.50). Application forms have already been sent to all the League clubs and should be returned to the secretary before 13th November. Further forms may be had from the League Secretary on 01256 781249.
