Mixed Match Report - 04/11/05 Newly promoted BH Pegasus B in Mixed Division 1 lost 9/0 to their own A side in their opening encounter. The successful A team was David Burrell/Kim Street, Martin Hill/Amanda Marsden and Abdul Khan/Lesley Acheson.  BH Pegasus A then visited Beechdown A to come away 7/2 losers having had to concede two rubbers due to an injury to one of their players.  David Burrell/Kim Street and Martin Hill/Amanda Marsden recorded one rubber each for the losers while Neil Marie/Andrea Hill won a maximum for Beechdown A supported by two rubbers from Peter Seward/Madge Cummings. In the same division James Bevis/Karen Bayman, Tim Cooper/Susie Hubbard  and Richard Whatley/Ingrid Hart recorded a 9/0 victory for Viking A against Beechdown B at Winchester Road.

 Keith Fleming/Julie Ward won two rubbers for Aldermaston A in their time-constrained 5/3 home defeat by early leaders Viking B.  David Lowe/Sandra Page secured the other rubber for them.  Scott Wilkins/Diane Cooper won two rubbers for the visitors as did Graeme Berry/Ruth Seward complimented by one from Ian Shoard/Sara King. 

 
A BH Pegasus C team comprising Dale Turpin/Jean Deverill, Prasanth Kumaran/Doreen Quilter and Carlo/Linda Rapacioli beat a two pair Firefly side 9/0 at the Sports Centre in Division 3.  Elsewhere in the division Waverley A and Beechdown C played out a 4/4 draw in a time constrained match.  Adam Bridgen/Sally Holmes and Colin Huntley/Debbie Symes won two rubbers each for the home side while Paul Deed/Sue Nolan won two for Beechdown C supported by one each from Tim Williams/Lynn Perrine and Nigel Appleton/Jan Macdonald. 

 
Andover Sports B enhanced their lead in Division 5 with a 6/3 home victory against near neighbours Andover.  Ian Swatton/Liz Jones set up the win by taking all three of their rubbers complimented by two from Chris Clarke/Val Wheeler and one from Graham Woodrow/Anita Maskie.  Geoff Lewis/Lorraine Phillips won two rubbers for Andover with John Harrow/Diane Dixon getting the third.  Steve Pote/Liz Firth won a maximum for LoddonSherpas C in their 7/2 defeat of Phoenix B at Sherfield School.  Phil Neal/Eve Bielby and Andrew Long/Caroline Thompson supplied two each to complete the scoring.  The loser’s two rubbers came from Noel Matthews/Sally Beard and Tim Pink/Ruth Thompsett, one each

Ladies Match Report - 04/11/05  In their second match of the season in the Ladies 6 Division LoddonSherpas were forced to concede three rubbers when one of their players was injured early in the match.  Nevertheless they just lost 5/4 to visiting Waverley for whom Sally Holmes/Sandra Jennings and Debbie Symes/Jo Berry each won one rubber.  Cheryl and Stephanie Matthews won their three rubbers for the losers supported by one from Liz Firth and Caroline Thompson.  Andover Sports could only put out two pairs when they went to Winchester Road to face Beechdown who emerged 5/4 victors.  Andrea Hill/Ruth Seward won their two rubbers for the home side while each of the visiting pairs, Pauline Prior/Sandra McDonald and Sue Hartfield/Liz Roberts secured two.   BH Pegasus opened their defence of the title with a 6/2 away win against Waverley in a time-constrained match at John Hunt School.  Debbie Symes and Caroline Rodbourne won the two home rubbers with Doreen Quilter/Kim Street taking a maximum for BH Pegasus supported by one rubber from Lesley Acheson and two from Jenny Skilton/Linda Rapacioli


Mens Match Report - 04/11/05  Viking Mens A in Division 1 maintained their unbeaten run with a 9/0 home win against Andover Sports B.  James Bevis/Richard Whatley, Tim Cooper/Mike Fidge and Tony Coombes/Chris Powell were the three winning pairings.  In the same division, Shaun McDonald/Emerson Cumberbatch won two rubbers for Andover Sports A supported by one from Ian Swatton/Chris Clarke in a 6/3 home defeat at the hands of Beechdown A.  Peter Seward/Neil Marie kept a clean sheet for the winners complimented by two rubbers from Mick Cummings/Daniel Sheppard and one from Mark Bayliss/Martin Webb.

 
BH Pegasus Mens B team in Division 2, comprising, Prasanth Kumaran/Carlo Rapacioli, Alex groom/Steve Tribe and Steve Glover/Dale Turpin beat Alresford 9/0 at the Sports Centre.   LoddonSherpas A suffered two 7/2 home defeats in the division.  The first was to Beechdown B and the second to Viking B.  Both Paul Deed/Sam Jefferies and Keith Watson/Daniel Sheppard won three rubbers for Beechdown B supported by one from Steve Nolan/Tim Jefferies with Mark Gentry/Steve Pote and Phil Neal/Paul Bonner getting one each for the home losers.  In the second match Ian Young and Matthew Frost secured the two home rubbers with Graeme Berry/Scott Wilkins getting a maximum for Viking B   Ian Shoard/Simon Williamson and Stuart Cheng/Steve Ineson supplies two each to complete the scoring.  

 
In Division 3, the home side, LoddonSherpas B only managed to secure two rubbers against Phoenix A for whom Paul Nightingale/Matthew Hawkins scored a maximum three rubbers complimented by two from Tim Little/Matthew Savastand and one from Steve Sexton/Andy Jones.  Matthew Frost and Arun Karnad won the two for LoddonSherpas B.


Hampshire County 04/11/05 The Hampshire County 1st team travel to Milton Keynes for the first series of matches in this season’s Inter-County Championship.  The team, which this week-end faces Surrey, Worcestershire on the Saturday and then Hertfordshire on the Sunday is slightly weaker than last season and will do well to avoid relegation.  1st man, Mark Burgess has gone to work for Badminton England in Kent, his county of birth and is now playing for them, Caroline Taylor and Simon Gennery, two strong players, are both on the injured list at the moment but hope to be available for the 2nd week-end in late December
