Ladies Match Report 01/12/04  BH Pegasus had their third 4/2 victory in the Ladies 4 Division of the Ian Dewar (Castlegate Investments) sponsored league.  This time visiting Andover were on the receiving end of the scoreline.  Each of the home players, Emy Davies, Jenny Skilton, Norma Scott and Amanda Marsden participated in two winning rubbers. Karen Causley and Ann Viney won the two rubbers for the losers.  


Mens Match Report 01/12/04  By defeating Aldermaston at the Hurst Firefly jumped into first place in the Mens Division 2 table.  Although equal on points with Aldermaston they have played one match fewer.  Chris Apsey and Graham Page won all three of the visitor’s rubbers with each of the home pairs, Steve Webb/John Weston, Colin Pink/Mick Turrell and Phil Pike/Gary Leach contributing two. 

In Division 3, a Loddon team comprising Phil Hood/Richard Burt, Mark Gentry/Steve Woodward and Mitchell Hockley/Martin Hawkins beat Waverley 9/0to go into second place one point behind leaders Hurst. 

Andover followed a recent 8/0 defeat of Basing Cavaliers with an 8/1 victory over BH Pegasus C at the Sports Centre to climb into second spot in the Division 4 table.  Ivor Brojek/Colin McIntyre and Alan Dixon/Paul Fletcher won three rubbers each for Andover complimented by two from Geoff Lewis/Mark Jenkins.  Ray Chow and Steve Tribe won the consolation rubber for the losing home team. 


Mixed Match Report 01/12/04  There were two matches reported in Mixed Division 1 this week.  In the first Andover Sports A accounted for visiting Waynflete 7/2. Daniel Soper-Dyer/Pauline Prior and Shaun McDonald/Liz Roberts won maxima for the winners with Emerson Cumberbatch/Sandra McDonald supplying the other one.  Colin Burville/Kirstie Wykes and Wayne Barter/Elizabeth Burville contributed a rubber each for Waynflete.  Viking A had to concede two rubbers in an 8/1 defeat by Beechdown A in which Richard Whatley and Juliet MacAskill, back after a long period of injury, won the solitary loser’s rubber.  Brother and sister Neil Marie/Andrea Hill won three rubbers for the Winchester Road team with Daniel Harvey/Madge Cummings contributing two and Peter Seward/Katie Marlow the other one.  This fine victory leaves Beechdown A, with four matches played, six points clear of Viking A. 

In a match constrained by time in Division 3, St Marys beat Viking C 5/3 at John Hunt School.  Each of the home pairs, Carlo Rapacioli/Diane Cooper, Ian Shoard/Ruth Cairns and Scott Wilkins/Sarah King won one rubber.  Philip Debois/Debbie Freeman and Tony/Lyn Glinos recorded two rubbers each for St Marys with Keith Vincent/Andrea Farmer getting the fifth. The final rubber was at one game all and 8/8 in the third game when the time was up after six of the preceding rubbers had gone to three games.  Beechdown C beat BH Pegasus C 7/2 at the Sports Centre in the same division with both Mick Cummings/Lynn Perini and Mark Bayliss/Jan McDonald scoring maxima supported by one rubber from Nigel Appleton/Karen Southwell.  Alex Groom/Jean Deverill and Prasanth Kumara/Doreen Quilter won one rubber each for the losing home side. 

Basing Cavaliers were 6/3 winners against Beechdown D at Winchester Road in Division 4 with Steve Gaunt/Judith Lillis winning their three rubbers complimented by two from Richard Dearman/Sheila Weston and one from Andrew Dance/Lynda Rossell.  The three home pairs, Mark Bowles/Sue Nolan, Chris Meeking/Leanne Francis and Bruce Scott/Tinie Wilkinson scored one rubber each.  Bob Cosgrove/Alison Rendall won two rubbers for a two pair Phoenix B in a 6/3 home defeat by Waverley A.  Steve Sexton and Carolyn Neale supplied the third.  Daniel Wee/Sandra Jennings won two rubbers for Waverley A with Colin Huntley/Debbie Symes getting one.
