BDBL Secretary 28/02/08

Trevor has been League secretary since summer 1986- nearly 22 years and will stand down at the end of this season.  In that time  he has dealt with a multitude of tasks for the good of the League.
The number of tasks is too numerous for me to describe them all, but some of them are as follows:- he deals with all the paperwork between the League and club secretaries, District secretaries, Hampshire Badminton Association and Badminton England.  He arranges venues for coaching courses and tournaments, and oversees the applications, shuttles and running of the events.  All match cards are sent to him and he keeps detailed records of each match result, the players and their individual performance. He is one of the committee that plans the fixtures each year, types the chronological lists and then sends all details of the seasons matches to club secretaries, together with any information from the committee regarding the smooth running of the League. He plans the A.G.M. agenda, produces the paperwork and arranges the venue; then puts the new season’s composition to the meeting.
This web site was set up by his neighbour, John Johnston, to whom we are greatly indebted. It is updated and maintained by Trevor, and the regular articles in the Gazette are written by him.
For the past 20 years, as Chairman of the League, I have worked with Trevor and have relied upon him for his great knowledge of local players and clubs as well as details of county and national badminton. He has been a most meticulous and conscientious secretary, who has carried out all the secretarial duties, plus many extras, with great cheerfulness and friendly humour.
We shall have great difficulty in replacing him, but replace him we must.  I know you will want to thank him for all his hard work.  A fitting response would be for another committed badminton player to take over in July this year.
