KO Cup 27/10/06 The draw and handicaps for the Knock-Out Cup are as follows: Waverley (+7) play St Marys (-2), Andover Sports (-4) play Viking (-6), BH Pegasus (-2) are at home to Beechdown (-2) and finally Aldermaston (+5) play LoddonSherpas (+3).
In each case the first named team have home advantage. Matches should be completed before the end of January 2007. Result sheets and details of the handicaps will be sent to each team secretary within the next few days.
Ladies
Matches
27/10/06
In the only match reported so far in the Ladies 4
Division, BH Pegasus, Hayley McCall, Lesley Acheson, Doreen Quilter and Amanda
Marsden, proved too strong for a Beechdown team, winning 6/0. BH Pegasus have started their campaign to regain the Ladies 6
trophy in good fashion with two successive victories. In their first match they accounted for Waverley with a 7/2
scoreline then they beat Viking 5/4 at John Hunt School.
Karen Hume/Alison Crawford won two of the loser’s rubbers with Ingrid
Hart/Julie Shawley and Diane Cooper/Emma Day getting one each in this latter
match. Third pair Lesley
Acheson/Hayley McCall obtained a maximum for BH Pegasus supported by two
rubbers from Anu Davies/Amanda Marsden.
Alison Rendall and Wendy Mason were the solitary winners for Phoenix
when they lost 8/1 to Beechdown at Sherfield School.
Sandra Smith/Karen Southwell and Ruth Seward/Katie Appleton both
recorded maxima for Beechdown with Leanne Frances/Sara Grant supplying the
remaining two.
Mens
Matches 27/10/06 Aldermaston
suffered their second 5/2 defeat in Mens Division 2 when they went down by
this score to a visiting BH Pegasus B side.
David Lowe and Stephen Gaunt won the two rubbers for the losers with
Steve Glover/Dale Turpin and Andrew Bosworth/Alex Groom getting two each for
BH Pegasus B supported by one from Ramsey Domloge/Andrew Hart.
In the same division Phoenix A had a 5/4 home victory over Andover
Sports B at Sherfield School.
Jon Thomson/Greg Sudell recorded a maximum for the winners with Paul
Nightingale/Tim Little supplying the remaining two.
Andy Kinge/Geriant Griffiths won two rubbers for the visitors
complimented by one each from Peter Cowmeadow/Sarmin Sarmin and Chris Lisiak/John
Egremont.
Chris Meeking/Keith Dowson.
Richard Bowen/Lee Chajecki and Tim
Williams/Bruce Scott comprised the strong Beechdown B team which beat Phoenix
B 9/0 at Winchester Road in Division 3.
Phil Neal/Mike Powell and Dave Harfield/Paul Bonner won two rubbers
each when LoddonSherpas B with only these two pairs lost 5/4 to BH Pegasus C
at the Sports Centre.
Ray Chow and Steve Tribe won the two rubbers scored by the winning home
team.
Mixed Matches 27/10/06
Viking
Mixed A started their campaign to keep the Mixed title with an 8/1 home
victory over Andover Sports A at John Hunt School in Division 1.
Tim Cooper/Susie Hubbard and James Bevis/Ingrid Hart both scored maxima
with Scott Wilkins/Alison Crawford chipping in with the other two rubbers for
Viking A. Shaun McDonald and Liz Roberts won the solitary rubber for
the losing visitors.
In Division 2, the match between the two BH Pegasus sides
resulted in an 9/0 win for the B team over their C side.
Prasanth Kumaran/Doreen Quilter, Kevin Harris/Hayley Fox and Martin
Davey/Lesley Acheson made up the winning team.
Firefly had a 7/2 home victory over Aldermaston A in the same division
with Phil/Sue Pike and Steve Webb/Rosemarie Pomroy getting three rubbers each
supported by one from Mick Turrell/Sarah Corbett.
Glynn Libberton/Rhian Jenkins and Graham Page/Hannah Ward won one
rubber each for the losers.
Stuart
Gordon and Vivienne Hazell won the only rubber for a two pair Whitchurch side
which lost 8/1 to Waverley A at John Hunt School in Division 3.
Ian Ahearne/Jo Berry and Adam Bridgen/Linda Rapacioli won two rubbers
for Waverley A supported by one from Colin Huntley/Debbie Symes.
Phil Hood/Eve Bielby won a maximum for LoddonSherpas B in their close
5/4 victory over Basing Cavaliers at the Vyne School in Division 4.
Mike Powell and Liz Firth got the other two rubbers for them.
Steve Gaunt/Linda Russell won two rubbers for the home side
supported by one each from Richard Dearman/Sheila Weston and Dave
Harfield/Theresa Simmonds. Elsewhere
in the division there were two 9/0 victories.
In the first Geriant Griffiths/Pauline Prior, Ian Swatton/Liz Jones and
Chris Clarke/Val Wheeler made up the Andover Sports B side which beat
Beechdown D at Winchester Road. Later
with Sue Hartfield replacing Pauline Prior, Andover Sports B had another 9/0
victory, this time at home against Basing Cavaliers.
Coaching Courses 27/10/06 Unfortunately due to lack of applications the Coaching Course for players from unaffiliated clubs which was to have been held on Sunday 5th November has had to be cancelled. The course to be held at Westgate on 19th November will go ahead as planned.
