Knock-Out Cup 22/11/07 The draw and handicapping for the Knock-Out Cup have been completed. There are two matches in the 1st round which should be completed before 19th January 2008. These are LoddonSherpas (+2) at home to BH Pegasus 1 (-3) and St Marys (-3) at home to Andover Sports (Scr). The winners of the first match are at home to Beechdown ((Scr) in the 2nd round and the winners of the St Marys/Andover Sports match visit Viking (-3) in this round which should be completed before 20th February 2008. The remaining matches in the 2nd round are Basing Cavaliers (+8) at home to BH Pegasus 2 (+2) and Waverley (+3) at home to Aldermaston (+3). The semi-finals and final will take place at the Sports Centre on Sunday 30th March 2008.
Ladies
Matches 22/11/07 Andover
ladies in the Ladies Division of 4 played out another draw, this time against
BH Pegasus at the Basingstoke Sports Centre.
Sue Clarke played in all three of Andover winning pairs assisted by
Karen Causley in two and Laura Thomas in one. Sally Holmes and Haylie Fox took
part in two of the successful rubbers for the home team with Doreen Quilter
and Sarah Mauser participating in one each.
Despite a maximum from Andrea Hill/Tracy King Beechdown ladies in the
Division of 6 lost 5/4 to visiting Viking for whom Ingrid Hart/Julie Shawley
and Emma Day/Juliet MacAskill won two rubbers each.
Mother and daughter Linda/Sophia Rapacioli won the winner’s fifth
rubber with Karen Southwell/Sandra Smith getting the fourth for the home side.
Mens
Matches 22/11/07 In
the only match reported in Mens Division 1, Viking B beat BH Pegasus A 5/4 at
Everest College. Father and son
Carlo/Milo Rapacioli set up the narrow victory by winning their three rubbers
supported by two from Simon Williamson/Stuart Cheng.
David Burrell/Martin Davey won two of the loser’s rubbers with David
Gough/Richard O’Kelly and Martin Hill/Prasanth Kumuram securing one each.
In Division 2, Waverley suffered two defeats.
The first was at home when they went down 6/3 to Andover and later they
lost 5/4 to BH Pegasus C at the Sports Centre.
In the Andover match each of the home pairs, Ian Aherne/Adam Bridgen,
Keith Miles/John Beattie and Colin Huntley/Peter Bevell won one rubbers and
Dave Sneddon/Mark Holden and Alan Dixon/Geoff Lewis secured maxima for the
visitors. Against BH Pegasus C, Adam Bridgen/Keith Miles won one rubber as did
Ian Aherne/Peter Bevell with Richard James/John Beattie getting two .
The winner’s rubbers came from Steve Glover/James Skilton 2 and Ray
Chow/Steve Harrison 3. Martin Webb/Simon Johnston and Daniel Sheppard/James Bartlett
both won two rubbers for Beechdown a when they beat a two pair Firefly side
8/1 at the Hurst. Simon Johnson
and Mark Bayliss won the remaining rubber for the visitors. Steve Webb/ Chris Nunne won the consolation rubber for the

Still unbeaten in Division 3 are Aldermaston whose team of Lawrence
Sutton/Rod Jenkins, Stephen Gaunt/Chris Apsey and Neil Hince/Michael Ling
defeated Whitchurch 9/0 at Whitchurch. Colin
Cresswell/Keith Lawrence, Mark Payne/Duncan Kerry and Dave Keep/Barry
Eggington comprised the Hurst team which beat visiting LoddonSherpas B 9/0.
Bob Cosgrove/Matthew Savastand won their three rubbers assisted by two
from Mark Fuller/Mark Cleave and one from Andy Jones/Tim Pink when Phoenix B
beat Alresford 6/3 at Sherfield School. John
Read/Ralph Pointer won two of the loser’s rubbers with Ted Dowson/Mark Webb
securing the third.

Pegasus A currently lead Mixed Division 1 after a 5/4 victory over Viking A at

supported by one from Richard O’Kelly/Amanda Marsden while Carlo
Rapacioli/Juliet MacAskill and Vince Yong/Alison Crawford won two each for the

pairing of Carlo/Linda Rapacioli won two rubbers supported by one from Simon
Williamson/Sophia Rapacioli when Viking B lost 6/3 to St Marys at Newbury.
Mark Ferguson/Margaret Mason recorded a maximum for the home side
complimented by two rubbers from Tony Glinos/Pam Norman and one from Philip
Desbois/Andrea Farmer.
In Division 2, Beechdown A continue unbeaten following a 9/0 defeat of
Waverley A. The winning team was

Kopp. LoddonSherpas A just
got the better of Beechdown B with a 5/4 victory at the Sports Centre.
Ian Young/Stephanie Matthews and Chris Young/Cheryl Matthews both won
two rubbers for the winners with Phil Hood/Liz Firth chipping in with the
fifth. Tony Walker/Sandra Smith
won a treble for the losing visitors and Mark Bayliss/Cathryn Perkins got the
fourth.
Steve Webb/Tracy Tait won the solitary rubber recorded for a two pair Firefly
team which went down 8/1 to Aldermaston A at Aldermaston in Division 3.
Glynn Libberton/Sally Jenkins won two rubbers for the home side as did
David Lowe/Pippa Dines with Chris Apsey/Sue Richardson getting one.
Phoenix A accounted for Beechdown C with a 7/2 scoreline in the same

Mitchell Hockley/Eve Bielby won their three rubbers for the winners
complimented by two from James Webb/Sandra Jennings and one from Paul
Bonner/Sue Evans.
Hampshire
County 1st & 2nd Teams 22/11/07
Hampshire
County 1st team finished in 4th position in the National
League Division A table with 15 points having drawn 5/5 with Essex, beaten
Lancashire 6/4 and lost on the Sunday 6/4 to Warwickshire.
The 2nd team, newly promoted to the B Division had mixed fortunes
in their first series of matches.
They beat Derbyshire 8/2, lost by the same margin to Middlesex and then
went down 10/0 to ,strong contenders for promotion, Nottinghamshire to finish
on 10 points.
