Summer Clubs 20/04/07 

BH Pegasus club will meet every Tuesday at the Sports Centre from 7.40pm.  Contact Amanda Marsden (07774 943782) for full details.  

The Phoenix summer club will meet every Tuesday in June and July at Sherfield School form 7.30pm.  Ruth Thompsett (07720 748409 or Carolyn Neale (07941 980895) are the contacts.

Terry Firth (01256 471856) is the contact for the LoddonSherpas summer club which will be held at Fort Hill School on Mondays commencing on Monday 2nd July and continuing until 20th August

Ladies Matches 20/04/07  Both pairs in a two pair visiting Andover Sports team in the Ladies 6 Division won their three rubbers to come away with a 6/3 victory over Phoenix.  The pairs were, Liz Roberts/Sue Hartfield and Sandra McDonald/Ellen Dennett.   Viking were unable to field a team to play LoddonSherpas and were forced to concede the 9 points which have put the latter in second place in the table some 5 points behind BH Pegasus. 

 Karen Causley and Sue Clarke took part in three winning rubbers for Andover when they defeated BH Pegasus 5/1 in the Ladies Division of 4.  Lara Phillips and Lara Thomas participated in two successful rubbers for them as well.  Amanda Marsden and Doreen Quilter won the one rubber for the home side.    

Mens Matches 20/04/07   Although they lost 5/4 at home to Andover in Mens Division 2, Andover Sports B are still in with a good chance of occupying one of the two promotion places in the division.  Steve Trussell/Dave Sneddon set up the visitor’s win by winning a treble supported by the other two rubbers from Geoff Lewis/Alan Dixon.  Peter Cowmeadow/Paul Williams won two rubbers for the home team complimented by one each from Geriant Griffiths/Nick Gladwin and Peter Hatfield/Andy Kinge.  

In Division 3 Beechdown B beat a two pair Alresford 8/1 at Winchester Road with Keith Dawson/Tony Walker and Tom Harris/Chris Meeking winning two rubbers each supported by one from Richard Bowen/Tim Williams.  Bob Thirkell and Ted Dowson won the solitary visitor’s rubber.   This victory leaves the Beechdown side with a lot to do if they are to overcome Waverley, who are currently in second place, for the second promotion spot.  Later Alresford beat a two pair Phoenix B side 9/0 at Alresford.  The winning team was Bob Thirkell/Scott Page, Mark Emerson/Marc Page and Nigel Butcher/Ben Webb

Mixed Matches 20/04/07  With one match still to play, St Marys clinched the Mixed Division 1 title with a fine 9/0 home victory over Andover Sports A who now finish in third place one point behind second place Viking A.  Andy King/Janine Fisher, Gareth Jones/Andrea Farmer and Mark Ferguson/Margaret Mason made up the winning side.  James Bevis/Diane Cooper, Scott Wilkins/Juliet MacAskill and Tim Cooper/Emma Day were the Viking A side which beat LoddonSherpas A 9/0.  The latter were only able to field one pair in this match which saw both sides complete their programme.
