Ladies Matches 20/02/08  Viking Ladies continue to dominate the Ladies 6 Division.  Their last match resulted in a 9/0 home victory over bottom of the table Phoenix.  Alison Crawford/Julie Shawley, Linda/Sophia Rapacioli and Ruth Cairns/Diane Cooper comprised the team.


Mens Matches 20/02/08  Father and son, Carlo/Milo Rapacioli won the two rubbers for Viking B in a Mens Division 1 clash with BH Pegasus A at the Sports Centre.  David Burrell/Martin Davey were the only home pair to keep a clean sheet with Alex Wigmore/Steve Harrison and David Gough/Richard O’Kelly contributing two rubbers each to complete the scoring. 

Beechdown A maintained top position in Division 2 with a 7/2 home win over BH Pegasus C for whom Steve Harrison/Ray Chow won the two rubbers.  Mark Bayliss/Simon Johnson won a maximum for the home side while Martin Webb/Bruce Scott and Daniel Sheppard/James Bartlett supplied two each.

In Division 3 Paul Bonner/Michael Nash were the only winners for LoddonSherpas B in their 8/1 defeat by Alresford at Alresford.  Bob Thirkell/Mark Emerson and Ralph Pointer/Ben Webb recorded maxima for the home side with John Read/Mark Webb supplying the other two rubbers. Later LoddonSherpas B lost again to give Whitchurch their first win of the season.  The score was 7/2 to home team Whitchurch.  Stuart Gordon/Dave Cooley won their three rubbers for the winners complimented by two each from Sean Mallard/Peter Cooke and Mark Loader/John Clark.  Paul Bonner/Arjun Karnad and Andrew Long/Ricky Sewhee each won one rubber for the visitors. Aldermaston beat top of the table Beechdown B 6/3 at Aldermaston    The visitors who had only two pairs have Neil Marie/Nick Jones to thank for their three rubbers.  Each of the home pairs, Michael Ling/Neil Hince, Chris Apsey/Stephen Gaunt and David Lowe/Graham Page won one rubber. Elsewhere in the division Hurst, comprising Mark Payne/Duncan Kenny, Keith Lawrence/Chris Paxton and David Ord/Dave Keep beat Phoenix B 9/0 at Sherfield School.


 Mixed Matches 20/02/08   Carlo/Linda Rapacioli were the only winners for Viking B when they lost 8/1 to their own A side in Mixed Division 1. Tony Coombes/Juliet MacAskill and Scott Wilkins/Alison Crawford both recorded maxima for the A side with Tim Cooper/Julie Shawley getting the remaining two rubbers. This result leaves Viking A in second place in the table 7 points behind leaders BH Pegasus A with both teams having 4 matches still to play.  

In Division 2, second placed Viking C lost a close match against LoddonSherpas A 5/4 at the Sports Centre.  Neil Hodges and Sophia Rapacioli won two of the loser’s rubbers as did Ben Ansell/Ruth Cairns.  Ian Young/Stephanie Matthews won one of the LoddonSherpas A’s rubber with Chris Young/Cheryl Matthews and Phil Hood/Becky Hall getting two each.  In the same division third placed Beechdown B beat Waverley A 7/2 at Everest College.  Keith Miles/Gill Trimmer and Adam Bridgen/Jan McDonald secured one rubber each for the home losers.  James Bartlett/Tracy King and Mark Bayliss/Cathryn Perkins both won maxima for Beechdown B complimented by one rubber from Simon Johnson/Kate Appleton. 

Tim Williams/Sue Nolan were the only winners for Beechdown C when they lost 8/1 to Division 3 leaders Aldermaston A.  Chris Apsey/Rhian Jenkins and Glynn Libberton/Sandra Page both kept clean sheets for the winners with David Lowe/Hannah Ward supplying the remaining two rubbers. Phoenix A maintain their second position in the table following a 6/3 home defeat of Andover Sports B at Sherfield School.  In this victory Paul Nightingale/Carolyn Neale won their three rubbers for the home side with Greg Sudell/Alison Rendall supplying another two and Matthew Hawkins/Sam Taylor one.  Each of the visiting pairs, Chris Clarke/Val Wheeler, Daniel Pharom/Ellen Dennett and Peter Hartfield/Liz Jones won one rubber. 

In Division 4 Aldermaston B kept up the chase of leaders LoddonSherpas B with a 6/3 home victory over Basing Cavaliers.  Neil Hince/Julie Ward won their three rubbers for the winners with Graham Page/Lisa Apsey supplying two and Alan Macdonald/Joan Vinall one to complete the win.  All three visiting pairs, Steve Gaunt/Judith Lillis, Andrew Dance/Sheila Weston and Dave Hartfield/Linda Russell won one rubber each.


Hampshire County 1st & 2nd Teams 20/02/08 
The next series of matches for the Hampshire County 1st team is over the weekend of 5th/6th April.  

The 2nd team un fortunately finished in 9th position in the Division 2 table with only 28 points and will be relegated back to the Regional Divisions next season along with Derbyshire 1st team who finished in 10th place.


Knock-Out Cup 20/02/08   BH Pegasus 2 (+2) had an narrow 15 point victory over Basing Cavaliers in the second round of the cup (336/321).  The winners won all three of the Ladies matches while the home losers won two of the Mixed doubles and one of the Mens. The remaining matches were split but BH Pegasus 2 managed to gain a enough points from these to keep their lead.  In the semi-finals  on 30th March BH Pegasus 2 will play either Beechdown or LoddonSherpas and the other semi-final will be between Aldermaston and the winner of the Viking Andover Sports clash.
