Ladies Matches 17/11/06   There were no matches reported this week


Mens Matches 17/11/06 Even with only two pairs Firefly managed to salvage 3 points from Andover Sports A at the Hurst in Mens Division 1, Colin Pink/Steve Webb  won two rubbers for the home side complimented by one from Mick Turrell/Scott Armstead.  Shaun McDonald/Emerson Cumberbatch won two for the visitors supplemented by one from Damien Roberts/Peter Cowmeadow.  Later Andover Sports A recorded a 8/1 home victory over Beechdown A who were only able to field two pairs.  In a tight three set match Daniel Sheppard/Mark Bayliss were the only winners for the visitors.  Shaun McDonald/Emerson Cumberbatch again won two rubbers as did Chris Clarke/Ian Swatton with Damien Roberts/Paul Williams supplying the other one.  

After losing 8/1 to LoddonSherpas A, Andover Sports B got back to winning ways with 7/2 home victory over Hurst in Division 2.   Both Paul Williams/Geriant Griffiths and Mark Tilston/Nick Gladwin won maxima for the winners with Andy Kinge/Peter Hartfield supplying the seventh rubber.  Chris Paxley/Jeremy Browne and Barry Egginton/Dave Keep won one rubber for the losers.  In the same division, Jon Thomson/Greg Sudell scored a maximum  for Phoenix A when they beat Aldermaston 6/3 at Sherfield School.  Matthews Hawkins/Peter Bevell won two rubbers and Paul Nightingale/Paul Verling one to complete their scoring.  David Lowe/Stephen Gaunt won their three rubbers for the losing visitors,

In Division 3 Phil Neal/Mike Powell won three rubbers, 
 Dave Harfield/Paul Bonner two and Ram Panesar/Mark Sykes one when LoddonSherpas B beat Whitchurch 6/3 at John Hunt School.  Dave Cooley/Stuart Gordon won two of the loser’s rubbers while Sean Mallard/Peter Askew got the third. 


Mixed Matches 17/11/06  A card just in for a match played back in September in Mixed Division 1 showed a 7/2 victory for newly promoted St Marys over Beechdown A at Winchester Road.  Brother and sister Neil Marie and Andrea Hill won the two home rubbers before being forced to concede their third due to an injury.  Each of the visiting pairings, Andrew King/Janine Fisher, Mark Ferguson/Margaret Mason and Tony Glinos/Pam Norman won two rubbers.  Then in early November in a home match St Marys accounted for Viking A by the same score.  On this occasion James Bevis/Julie Shawley and Tim Cooper/Ruth Seward won one rubber each for the home side.  Both Mark Ferguson/Margaret Mason and Andrew King/Andrea Farmer recorded maxima for the winners supported by one rubber from Peter Braithwaite/Rebecca Meagrow.  Beechdown A recovered from their defeat by St Marys to beat a two pair LoddonSherpas A side 8/1.  Neil and Andrea won their two rubbers as did Daniel Sheppard/Sandra Smith with Martin Webb/Karen Southwell getting one.  Ian Young and Stephanie Matthews secured the solitary rubber for the losing visitors.  Elsewhere in the division BH Pegasus A beat Andover Sports A 8/1 at Andover with Tim Hunt/Pauline Prior the only home winners. David Burrell/Anu Davies and David Gough/Sue Lorrain won their three rubbers for the winners supported by two from Martin Hill/Amanda Marsden. 

BH Pegasus B maintained their unbeaten run in Division 2 with 7/2 away win against Viking B.  Simon Williamson/Julie Shawley won the two rubbers for the losers with Andrew Hart/Hayley McCall getting a maximum complimented by two rubbers each from Martin Davey/Lesley Acheson and Kevin Harris/Doreen Quilter.  Three rubbers from Martin Webb/Katie Appleton helped Beechdown B to a 6/3 home defeat of Aldermaston B.  Mark Bayliss/Cathryn Perkins won two rubbers with Nigel Appleton/Jan McDonald getting the sixth.  Glynn Libberton/Rhian Jenkins won two rubbers for the visiting losers with David Lowe and Sandra Page getting the other. 

In the only match reported in Division 3, Whitchurch recorded their first win with a 5/4 defeat of Phoenix A at Whitchurch.  Stuart Gordon/Vivienne Hazell and Peter Askew/Moya Abbott won two rubbers each for Whitchurch supported by one from Dave Cooley/Ellen Dennett.  Greg Sudell/Alison Rendall won their three rubbers for Phoenix A complimented by one from Matthew Savastang/Carolyn Neale.  Unbeaten Andover Sports B have not yet dropped a rubber in any of their three victories in Division 4.  This time with a team consisting of Chris Clarke/Val Wheeler, Ian Swatton/Liz Jones and Peter/Sue Hartfield they beat LoddonSherpas B 9/0 at John Hunt School to maintain top place in the table.  

Bruce Scott and Sue Nolan were the only victorious pair for Beechdown D when they lost 8/1 to Andover at Andover in Division 4.  Alan Dixon/Laura Thomas and Mark Holden/Kath Gregory both won maxima for the home side with Simon Collins/Karen Causley supplying the remaining two.  


Hampshire County 1st Team 17/11/06
Hampshire County 1st team managed to get 13 points from their three matches in the National League last weekend at Milton Keynes.  They lost 6/4 to Surrey in the opening encounter and then drew 5/5 with Worcestershire in the Saturday afternoon match.  Sunday’s match against Warwickshire ended as another 6/4 defeat.  Warwickshire, with good wins over Avon,7/3, Leicestershire, 8/2 and finally 6/4 over Hampshire are top on a total of 21 points closely followed by Surrey and Yorkshire on 20.  Hampshire are seventh with their 13 points  with Glasgow/North Strathclyde on 12, Avon on 9 and finally Leicestershire on 8.  The next weekend in mid-December which is at Wolverhampton will be difficult when the opposition is Hertfordshire, Yorkshire and then Glasgow/North Strathclyde.
