Ladies Matches 12/01/07 Julie Shawley/Karen Hume and Alison Crawford/Jane Halls both kept clean sheets assisted by two rubbers from Sara Haddow/Juliet McAskill when Viking Ladies in the Ladies 6 Division beat Waverley 8/1. Debbie Symes and Chris Fowler were the only successful Waverley pair. On the same night a two pair BH Pegasus side managed a narrow 5/4 home victory over Beechdown. Lesley Acheson/Hayley McCall won their three rubbers for the winners supported by two from Anu Davies/Amanda Marsden. Andrea Hill/Madge Cummings won the only rubber scored for the losing visitors. These results leave both Viking and BH Pegasus level on 30 points at the top of the table
Mens
Matches 12/01/07 There were
three matches in Mens Division 2. In
the first, just before Christmas, BH Pegasus B beat LoddonSherpas A 7/2 at the
Sports Centre. Alex Groom/Martin
Hill and Steve Glover/Dale Turpin both won maxima for the home team with Brett
Williams/James Skilton chipping in with one rubber.
Mark Gentry/Phil Hood and Ian Young/Mitchell Hockley scored one each
for the losers. LoddonSherpas A
soon recovered beating Hurst 9/0 at Cranbourne early in January. The winning combinations were Ian Young/Matthew Frost,
Richard Burt/Steve Woodward and Mark Gentry/Phil Hood. In the last match
reported in this division Phoenix A beat a two pair Andover side 8/1 at

Thomson and Paul Nightingale/Paul Verling won their two rubbers for the home
side supported by one from Matthew Hawkins/Peter Bevell.
The solitary Andover rubber was secured by Geoff Lewis/Ivor Brojek.
LoddonSherpas A now top the Division 2 table with 34 points closely
followed by BH Pegasus B on 30.
Dave Hartfield and Paul Bonner were the only winners when a two pair
LoddonSherpas B lost 8/1 to Waverley in Division 3.
Ian Aherne/Adam Bridgen and Rob Jackson/Milo Rapacioli won two rubbers
each for Waverley complimented by one from Colin Huntley/Ray Rich.
Simon Johnston/Lee Chojecki won a maximum for Beechdown B in their 7/2
home victory over Whitchurch. Chris Meeking/Keith Dawson and Tim Williams/Tim
Jefferies both won two rubbers for the home side as well.
Sean Mallard/Dave Cooley won the two rubbers for the losers.
Mixed Matches 12/01/07
In Mixed Division 1, Beechdown A had differing fortunes.
They firstly lost 6/3 to BH Pegasus A
but later recovered to defeat visiting Andover Sports A with the same
scoreline. In the BH Pegasus A match David Burrell/Anu Davies and Martin
Hill/Amanda Marsden both won maxima for the home side. The three Beechdown A
rubbers came when the BH Pegasus A first pair were forced to concede after
only one game. Against Andover
Sports A Daniel Sheppard/Sandra
Smith and Mick Cummings/Andrea Hill both won their three rubbers while each of
the visitor’s pairs, Damien Roberts/Pauline Prior, Shaun McDonal/Liz Roberts
and Emerson Cumberbatch/Sandra McDonald won one rubber.
An Aldermaston A team comprising David Lowe/Sandra Page, Graham
Page/Hannah Ward and Glynn Libberton/Rhian Jenkins beat Visiting Firefly 9/0
to record their team’s first win this season in Division 2.
A 7/2 win against second placed Waverley A at John Hunt School means
that Viking C still head the table in Division 3 by 10 points.
Chris Powell/Ruth Cairns and Vince Yong/Emma Day both recorded maxima
with Neil Hodges/Diane Cooper chipping in with one rubber.
Colin Huntley/Debbie Symes and Adam Bridgen/Linda Rapacioli won one
rubber each for the losers. Chris/Lisa
Apsey won two rubbers and Paul Roper/Helen Apsey won one when Aldermaston B
lost 6/3 to Phoenix A at Sherfield School.
Greg Sudell/Alison Rendall kept a clean sheet for the winners with Paul
Nightingale/Averil Mason winning two rubbers and Jon Thomson/Carolyn Neale
getting one to complete the victory.
In Division 4, Andover firstly were forced to concede to Waverley B as
they were unable to field a team but later beat LoddonSherpas B 6/3 at John

Causley won three rubbers for Andover complimented by two from Geoff
Lewis/Laura Thomas and one from Ivor Brojek/Sue Clarke.
Steve Woodward/Liz Firth won two of the home side’s rubbers with Phil
Hood and Eve Bielby getting the third. Waverley
B obtained another 6 points from a 6/3 victory over Basing Cavaliers at Queen
Mary’s College. Rob
Jackson/Gill Trimmer and John Bentlie/Sally Holmes won three rubbers each to
gain the visitors 6 points with each of the home pairs, Steve Gaunt/Linda
Childs, Andrew Dance/Sheila Weston and Dave Harfield/Theresa Simmonds
recording one.
