Ladies Matches 08/02/08  Liz Roberts/Sue Hartfield, Sandra McDonald/Pauline Prior and Ellen Dennett/Val Wheeler were the three successful Andover Sports pairings which defeated Phoenix 9/0 in the Ladies Division of 6 at Sherfield School.  This victory places the Andover side in third position in the table behind BH Pegasus who beat Beechdown 6/3 at Winchester Road.  Andrea Hill and Kate Appleton won two of the home rubbers supported by one from Sandra Smith/Karen Southwell.  Lesley Acheson/Sue Lorrain won a maximum for the winning visitors with Kim Street/Sally Holmes getting two rubbers and Amanda Marsden/Jenny Skilton the sixth.

After three drawn matches Andover managed a 4/2 away victory against Waverley in the Ladies Division of 4.  Karen Causley and Sue Clarke took part in three winning rubbers for Andover with Louise Phillips and Sophie Rippon participating in one each.  Each of the home ladies, Gill Trimmer, Jo Berry, Sophie Rapacioli and Heather Mountford took part in one successful rubber.


Mens Matches 08/02/08  At the Sports Centre Viking Mens A had a narrow 5/4 victory over BH Pegasus A in Division 1 which enables them to stay at the top of the table, Their nearest challengers, Andover Sports A are only 9 points adrift but have a match in hand.  Against BH Pegasus A Tim Cooper and Chris Powell won their three rubbers supplemented by two from Scott Wilkins/Graeme Berry.  David Gough/Richard O’Kelly won two rubbers for the home side with David Burrell/Martin Davey and Alex Wigmore/Kevin Harris contributing one each.  Later with Steve Harrison playing in place of Kevin Harris BH Pegasus A defeated their B team 9/0.  

Some late cards in from Andover have given the Division 2 table a more respectable look with all the 7 teams having reported an almost equal number of matches.   In a match played late in October Phoenix A beat Andover 5/4 at Andover with Paul Verling/Paul Nightingale winning a maximum for the visitors.  Jon Thomson/Matthew Hawkins won the other two rubbers. Alan Dixon/Peter Hall won two of the home rubbers with Steve Trussell/Peter Roberts and Geoff/Tim Lewis getting one each.  Later in November a visiting BH Pegasus C team comprising Steve Glover/James Skilton, Ray Chow/Steve Harrison and Mark Chappell/Chris Pearson had a 9/0 victory over Andover.  Finally Andover entertained LoddonSherpas A and beat them 6/3.  The three visiting rubbers were won by Chris Young/Mark Gentry while each of the home pairs, Geoff/Tim Lewis, Dave Sneddon/Peter Roberts and Alan Dixon/Gavin Hunt won two rubbers.  Three rubbers from Steve Webb/John Weston and two each from Phil Pike/Scott Armstead and Colin Pink/Mick Turrell gave Firefly a 7/2 home win over Waverley.  The visitors rubbers were won by Keith Miles/Adam Bridgen.  A week later Firefly lost 5/4 to LoddonSherpas A at the Sports Centre.  Phil Hood/Mark Gentry won a maximum for the home side supported by Ian/Chris Young and Jamie Webb/Mitchell Hockley getting one rubber each.  Phil Pike/Scott Armstead won two of the loser’s rubbers with Colin Pink/Mick Turrell and Steve Webb/John Weston getting one each. 

In Division 3 Beechdown B are still top of the table following a 6/3 home win against Alresford.  Neil Marie/Tim Jefferies won their three rubbers for the home side assisted by two from Simon Johnston/Keith Dawson and one from Bruce Scott/Nick Jones.  Bob Thirkwell/Ben Webb won two of the loser’s rubbers with Nigel Butcher/Ralph Pointer getting the third.


 Mixed Matches 08/02/08   BH Pegasus B were involved in two matches in Mixed Division 1.  In the first they lost 9/0 to their own A side which comprised David Gough/Sue Lorrain, David Burrell/Lesley Acheson and Nick Reid/Amanda Marsden.  The second match also ended in defeat, this time 8/1 down to visiting Viking B for whom Milo/Linda Rapacioli and Simon Williamson/Sophie Rapacioli won maxima supported by two rubbers from Carlo Rapacioli/Sara Haddow.  

In Division 2 Viking C had a good 8/1 home win against BH Pegasus C whose only winners were Dale Turpin/Jean Deverill.  Milo Rapacioli/Diane Cooper and  Vince Yong/Ruth Cairns won maxima for Viking C supplemented by two rubbers from Neil Hodges/Sophie Rapacioli.. 

Firefly, with only two pairs, lost 6/3 to Aldermaston A in Division 3 at the Hurst.  Steve Webb/Sarah Corbett won two rubbers for the home side complimented by one from Phil/Sue Pike.  Chris Apsey/Rhian Jenkins won two of the winner’s rubbers with Glynn Libberton/Sandra Page and Lawrence Sutton/Hannah Ward getting one each.  

Mitchell Hockley/Eve Bielby, Andrew Long/Caroline Thompson and Jamie Webb/Sandra Jennings were the successful LoddonSherpas B side which got to the top of the Division 4 table with a 9/0 home win against Phoenix B.
